Daios Cove Luxury Resort & Villas

Hotel was just 5 days open when we stayed for 1 week. Hotel is build with genuin materials and is integrated in the landscape. Entering the hotel is by security and in combination with a private beach, this will give you a very safe feeling. Rooms are spacious and conform the 5* Gran Melia. Although we had some minor remarks (no refill of coffee etc) and we thought it has to do with the start up and experience of employees. Remarks were handled profesional by Maura (experience manager). Hotel is not suited for disabled people because there are many steps and differents in heights. Although there is also a kids club,we think the hotel is more suitable for adults. The Spa however, is the most beautiful we saw till now. On 2500m2 you can find the newest equipment and treatment what a Spa can offer. Hotel is 6km outsite Agios Nicolaos (toward Eripetra).

Opened in April 2010 everything looks,of course, perfect and brand new. High class furniture. Every room has a splendid sea view and at night we could only hear the sea. Due to the good architectony, we could hardly hear our neighbours. You can make coffee and thee on the room but during our stay ,sometimes forgotten to refill. Mini bar with reasonable prices, 3.5 Euro for a bottle of beer. A big plasma TV with Dutch till Russian channels (also Spanish,German etc) a great choise of Pay TV movies is offered by 10 euro/movie. We counted 15 new movies and 10 Adult movies. Safe for free and suitable for a laptop. Shower good equiped with a rainforest shower and seperate cabine's. Shampoo or bathgel were not re-filled. We think it has to do with the start up from the hotel.

Before entering the hotel,the security informs the reception and a warm smile is waiting infront of the reception. The bell boy is taking care of the car and the lugage and the receptionist is showing one around and after having a hotel drink with astonishing view, the room can be entered.

Unfortunately we couldn't make use of the buffet style dinner. We could eat a la carte but after a few days the choise is limited. Breakfast was mainly served at the dish with the best orange juice we tasted. Bread could be better. We had 2X breakfast buffet and this was conform 5*. Dinner we had mainly at the Greek Tavern of the hotel were we had some nice Cretan meals. Wine is on a normal level of around 20 Euro. Beer however is with 5 euro (33cl) at a high range.

Best to do is to take a rental car at the airport because the town is 6km away. Agios Nicolaos is also transforming into a modern city with modern shops. Of course also the tourist shops but these start to be in the minority. By own car it is 70 minutes from the airport. When the wind comes from the north,it can be cold. We took the car to the south beaches were it is warmer and the wind will stop by the mountains (45 min)

Internet available in the room by LAN and WIFI.At the reception there are 6 PC with internet.All free. Wellness ,as said before, one of the best we saw before (unfortunately opened our last day ). Towel service at the swimming pool and beach. Very weel equiped bussiness centre with availability of media (beamer etc). good choice for meetings. Public toiltes are also very clean and modern and build with good taste. We think not suitable for children and disabled people

Excursions from the hotel are not cheap. A normal trip will cost (easy) 200 euro/pp and we think people will not pay this but will look for alternatives. For the rest everything is at your room. Even a little wax light to put on the balcony table for romantic evenings, overlooking the Cretan sea. Hadding to Agios Nicolaos, you can turn at the traffic lights left (to Kritsa) and after 500 mtr there is a Lidl ;-]
